History

1954

The museum originated from a collection of antiques gathered by history teacher Dušan Vukićević at the Teacher's School and was officially founded by the Municipality of Jagodina on September 30, 1954.

Over two decades, it grew into a key institution for cultural heritage protection in the Pomoravlje area.

1987

In 1987, the museum moved into the former Sokol Hall building, designed by architect Momir Korunović in 1935, which was declared a cultural monument and placed under state protection.

1995

Since 1995, the museum holds regional authority over Despotovac and surrounding municipalities, reflecting its expanded role and collection size.
