The Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge is a reinforced concrete, portal frame, cable-stayed bridge spanning 413 meters between Koror and Babeldaob Islands in Palau. Completed in 2002 by the Japanese Kajima Corporation, it replaced the original Koror–Babeldaob Bridge, which collapsed in 1996. This modern bridge not only serves as a crucial transportation link but also stands as a symbol of international cooperation and friendship between Japan and Palau. Its design ensures durability and functionality, supporting both vehicular traffic and essential utilities. The bridge's construction was funded significantly through Japanese Official Development Assistance, reflecting the strong diplomatic ties and aid commitment. Visitors can appreciate its engineering significance and the role it plays in Palau's infrastructure and connectivity. The bridge's opening ceremony in January 2002 marked a new era in Palau's development and bilateral relations with Japan.
