History
The Cargaleiro Museum opened to the public on September 9, 2005, initially housed in the historic 18th-century Solar dos Cavaleiros palace with an exhibition celebrating 60 years of Cargaleiro's artistic career.
On June 10, 2011, the museum expanded with a modern building inaugurated by the Portuguese President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, broadening its exhibition capacity and including new collections.
The museum was established as a result of collaboration between the Manuel Cargaleiro Foundation and the Castelo Branco municipality to preserve and promote the artist's legacy.
