Historie
GaiaZOO was established in 2005 through a collaboration between the municipality of Kerkrade, LIOF, and the Apenheul zoo.
Initially named GaiaPark, it was rebranded to GaiaZOO in 2011 to better reflect its identity as a zoo rather than a park.
The concept was developed by Bert de Boer, director of Apenheul since 1997.
