Historie

Construction of the current TV tower began in 1970, undertaken by the Zala County State Construction Company and completed in 1973.
A tragic accident during construction in September 1970 resulted in two fatalities when a hoist cable snapped, dropping structural elements.
The tower was inaugurated on August 17, 1973, in the presence of Dezső Horn, Deputy Minister of Transport and Postal Services.
After the establishment of the Vasvár TV transmitter in 1988, the Zalaegerszeg tower ceased to be part of the national television backbone, focusing on local broadcasts thereafter.
