History
Lika Museum was established on November 1, 1958, initially serving as the cultural institution for the Gospić municipality.
In 1965, it moved into its current late Baroque building constructed in 1789 as the office and residence of a Military Frontier general.
In 1970, it expanded to become a regional museum responsible for movable and immovable cultural heritage across the Lika region, now part of Ličko-senjska County.
Over the decades, it has conducted significant archaeological research and developed permanent exhibitions reflecting the area's rich historical layers.
The museum also took over administration of the Nikola Tesla Memorial Center in Smiljan, opened in 2006 to commemorate Tesla's 150th birthday.
