Historie
Joan Miró, born to Mallorcan parents, settled permanently in Mallorca with his wife Pilar Juncosa in 1955.
He commissioned architect Josep Lluís Sert to build a studio workshop in 1956 and later acquired the nearby Son Boter estate as a second atelier.
In 1981, Miró donated his works and properties to create the foundation, which was formally established in 1992 with the addition of Rafael Moneo's museum building.
Since then, the foundation has preserved Miró's legacy and expanded its cultural offerings, celebrating milestones such as its 25th anniversary with major exhibitions and rebranding.
