Historie
The brewing tradition in Valdivia dates back to 1851 with the establishment of Cervecería Anwandter by German immigrant Carlos Anwandter.
This brewery was one of Chile's earliest and most significant, reaching large-scale production by the early 20th century.
However, the devastating 1960 Valdivia earthquake destroyed much of the original brewery.
Inspired by these roots, Armin Kunstmann began brewing craft beer in the late 1980s, starting in his family kitchen.
By 1997, he industrialized production with the founding of Sociedad Cervecera Valdivia Ltda.
and opened a restaurant called La Cervecería.
The company expanded exports internationally by 1998 and formed a partnership with Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas in 2002.
Kunstmann has since grown into a major Chilean brewery, blending tradition with modern craft beer culture.
