History
Borovo Oko Park originated in 1932 when the pine forest south of Targovishte was designated as a city park.
In 1935, the local authorities closed two nearby brick factories, and the resulting excavation was later converted into a fishpond connected to the Vrana River in the 1940s.
In 1956, a project was developed to build a restaurant-casino named "Borovo Oko" on the pond's shore, along with sports fields, fountains, and playgrounds, realized through voluntary local labor.
By the late 1960s, sculptural decorations were added to the park.
The park underwent major cleaning and replanting efforts in 2009 and 2010, including the reintroduction of water lilies after a 20-year absence.
