Sylhet Shahi Eidgah is a grand open-air prayer hall located in Sylhet, Bangladesh, built during the 17th century under the supervision of Farhad Khan, the Mughal faujdar of Sylhet. Though designed like a Mughal fort, it serves primarily as a place for Eid prayers and Islamic congregations. The site features three entrance gates, 15 domes, and a large central mihrab, surrounded by smaller mihrabs and half-domed minars. A notable feature is the large pond called "fukoir" or "fukri," used for ritual ablutions (wudu). Historically, the Eidgah has been a significant venue for political speeches by figures such as Mohandas Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and it was the site of the 1782 Sylhet uprising against British colonial rule. Today, it remains one of Sylhet's most visited tourist attractions, blending religious, cultural, and historical importance.
