History
Sea Life Sydney Aquarium opened in 1988 after nearly two years of construction, designed to resemble a large wave.
In 1991, the Seal Sanctuary was introduced, later replaced by Dugong Island in 2008 housing Australia's only captive dugong.
The Great Barrier Reef complex was added in 1998, featuring a large oceanarium with over 6,000 animals.
