歴史
The Currier Museum of Art was established in 1929 from the bequest of Moody Currier and his wife Hannah, intending to create an art museum for the benefit of humanity.
The museum's building was designed by the New York firm Tilton and Githens and opened in October 1929.
Over the years, it expanded with new pavilions in 1982 and a major renovation completed in 2008 by Ann Beha Architects, enhancing its capacity and facilities.
The museum also incorporated the historic Kennard House in 2005.
It was renamed from Currier Gallery of Art to Currier Museum of Art in 2002 to better reflect its mission.
The museum also acquired two Frank Lloyd Wright houses: the Zimmerman House in 1988 and the Kalil House in 2019, both significant architectural landmarks.
