歴史
Gulf State Park was established in 1939 after the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed the original facilities in the 1930s.
Over the decades, it has weathered several hurricanes, notably Hurricane Ivan in 2004 which caused extensive damage.
Following the storm, major restoration projects included a new fishing pier, swimming pool, nature center, and campground renovations.
The park’s lodge, destroyed by Ivan, was replaced with a new facility opened in 2018.
