What to visit?
History
現在のエスワティニ（旧スワジランド）地域の最古の既知の住民はサン人であり、その後、アフリカの大湖地域から移住してきたバントゥー族が加わった。
グワネ3世王率いるドラミニ氏族が18世紀半ばにスワジ王国を樹立し、スワジ国家の始まりを示した。
国名の由来となったムスワティ2世王は王国を拡大し、その境界を確立してスワジのアイデンティティを固めた。
イギリスはスワジランドを保護領として認め、この地域における植民地支配の始まりとなった。
スワジランドはアングロ・ボーア戦争後、トランスヴァール植民地の一部としてイギリスの保護領となった。
スワジランドはイギリスの植民地支配から独立し、ソブーザ2世王の下で主権国家となった。
ソブーザ2世王は憲法を廃止し議会を解散、非常事態を宣言して王権の下で権力を集中させた。
ムスワティ3世王は父ソブーザ2世王の死去に伴い即位し、世界最後の絶対君主の一人となった。
ムスワティ3世王は国名をスワジランドからエスワティニに正式に改名すると発表し、国の植民地以前の名称とスワジの遺産を反映させた。
