Tällberg's earliest recorded mention dates back to 1320 under the name Tillbergh or tælleberga, meaning 'pine-covered mountain.' Originally a farming village, it had numerous farms in the early 20th century but began transforming into a tourist destination with the arrival of the railway in 1914.

Originally a private home turned schoolhouse in 1915, later a guesthouse and pension since 1928. The northern loft barn is a protected building dating dendrochronologically to 1506–07.

Originally a private residence named Ekebo, it became a guesthouse and course center in 1935, founded by the Långbers sisters. It includes several older buildings, including a mountain pasture at the top of Tällberg.
