Valjevo National Museum was established in 1951, initially housed in Muselim's Konak with a modest exhibition space divided into four sections.
In 1955, the museum expanded into a nearby building, forming the Museum of the People's Revolution.
By 1969, it relocated to a larger building constructed in 1870, which had served as a school and wartime hospital.
