History
Pirbadet was inaugurated on June 15, 2001, to replace the older Sentralbadet facility in downtown Trondheim.
Since its opening, it has become a central aquatic venue in the region and hosted national swimming championships in 2010 and 2017.
The building sustained façade damage during Cyclone Dagmar in 2011 but remained operational inside.
Over the years, the water park has expanded modestly with additional pools and slides, maintaining most of its original attractions.
In 2022, a water leak incident affected the basement but left most of the park operational.
The facility continues to serve as a major recreational and sports center in Trondheim.
