Efteling's origins trace back to 1935 with the opening of the R.K.

In 1950, the Efteling Nature Park Foundation was established by local leaders including mayor Reinier van der Heijden, filmmaker Peter Reijnders, and artist Anton Pieck.
The park officially opened on May 31, 1952, with the Fairy Tale Forest as its centerpiece.
Over time, it expanded significantly, adding major attractions like the Haunted Castle in 1978.
The park has continuously evolved, introducing new rides and themed areas, and in 2010 began operating year-round.
Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, Efteling remains a leading European theme park.
