The Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge is a remarkable bascule bridge spanning the mouth of the Terengganu River in Malaysia. Completed in 2019, it is the first drawbridge in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, designed to ease traffic flow and enhance connectivity between the city center and northern suburbs. Inspired by London's iconic Tower Bridge, it features four 15-storey towers connected by skybridges with commercial spaces and glass-walled walkways that provide panoramic views of Kuala Terengganu. The bridge's 23-meter-wide single-carriageway stretches 638 meters, with a 50-meter clear span drawbridge section that allows river traffic to pass. Illuminated at night with colorful lights, the structure not only serves as a vital transport link but also as a tourist attraction. It reduces travel time between Sultan Mahmud Airport, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and the city by about 15 minutes. The drawbridge is part of the East Coast Economic Region development and the Kuala Terengganu City Centre project, symbolizing modern engineering blended with aesthetic appeal.
