History
Originally opened in April 1984 as the Ayer Keroh Recreational Forest, the garden was established to preserve tropical rainforest and act as a green lung for the area.
Initially covering 79 hectares, it expanded to 300 hectares by its official opening.
In 1990, the Forestry Department introduced the Mini Dinosaur Park featuring 18 replicas of Mesozoic-era dinosaurs, including a 12.6-meter tall Brachiosaurus.
In June 2006, the site was officially renamed Melaka Botanical Garden and inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam.
