The National Museum of Military History (MNHM) in Diekirch, Luxembourg, offers a comprehensive and balanced portrayal of military operations in the Ardennes, particularly focusing on the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Housed in the historic Diekirch old brewery complex near the town center, the museum spans over 3,000 square meters and features numerous lifesize dioramas that vividly depict wartime scenes from American, German, and civilian perspectives. Its extensive collections include military vehicles, weaponry, uniforms, equipment, photographs, documents, and personal soldier belongings, making it one of Western Europe's finest WWII collections. A highlight is the detailed mock-up of the night-time crossing of the Sauer river by the US 5th Infantry Division in January 1945. Beyond WWII, the museum also covers Luxembourg's military history from its foundation to the present, including participation in the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, and United Nations missions. The MNHM is a founding member of the Belgian-Luxembourg Association of Museums of the Battle of the Ardennes and partners with the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. The museum also actively promotes equality and educational programs for history students.
