History

1877

The Museum of Slavonia was founded in 1877 originally as the Museum of the Free and Royal City of Osijek.

1946

In 1946, it was renamed to its current name and relocated to the City Magistrate building, a Baroque structure built in 1702 for administrative purposes.

2012

Throughout its history, the museum has expanded its collections extensively, briefly merging with the Archaeological Museum between 2012 and 2017 before becoming independent again.

1987
