Falaj Al Mualla Fort is a significant historical landmark located in the inland oasis town of Falaj Al Mualla, within the emirate of Umm Al Quwain, UAE. Constructed in 1825 by Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, the fort served as a defensive stronghold guarding the fertile wadi and the surrounding agricultural lands. The complex includes the fort itself and three watchtowers positioned to the east, west, and north, which historically protected the oasis. The area is noted for its date palm cultivation, sustained by aquifers from the Hajar Mountains, supporting local farming families for generations. Restoration efforts were undertaken in the 21st century, with the fort’s renovation completed in 2015, and the adjacent early 19th-century bathing house restored in 2014. Today, the fort houses the Falaj Al Mualla museum, offering visitors insight into the region’s cultural and agricultural history. The site exemplifies traditional Emirati architecture and the historical importance of oasis settlements in the UAE.
