Boven National Park
Saint Eustatius
Boven National Park is part of the Quill/Boven National Park complex on the island of Sint Eustatius in the Caribbean Netherlands. It consists of five volcanic hills in the northern part of the island: Boven, Venus, Gilboa Hill, Signal Hill, and Bergje. These hills, rising between 200 and 300 meters, are remnants of an ancient stratovolcano. The park is notable for its diverse vegetation, including several protected species such as orchids and the endemic Statia Morning Glory (Ipomoea sphenophylla). The area has experienced vegetation changes due to past agricultural use and grazing. It also provides habitat for the endangered Antillean iguana (Iguana delicatissima). Managed by the St. Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA), Boven National Park is a vital part of the island's conservation efforts and offers visitors a chance to explore volcanic landscapes and unique Caribbean biodiversity.

Historia
The initial initiative to establish the park was taken by the local island council in 1996, and it was officially designated as the first national park of Sint Eustatius by the government of the Netherlands Antilles in 1998.
The park is managed by STENAPA, founded in 1988 and registered in 1995 to protect the island's natural environment.
The Boven area represents the northern volcanic remnants of Sint Eustatius, with its hills formed by volcanic activity centuries ago.
Over time, agricultural activities and grazing have altered the native vegetation, prompting conservation measures to protect endangered species and restore habitats.
