Ratibořice Château is a remarkable historical residence situated in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. Nestled on an elevated plain above the meandering Úpa river, it forms a harmonious complex with the adjacent Grandmother's Valley (Babiččino údolí). Originally built as a Baroque summer palace in the style of an Italian country villa, it stands as a unique example of such architecture in the country. The building features a slightly rhomboid ground-plan, a distinctive hipped roof, and elegant central halls on both floors. In the 19th century, it was transformed into a sophisticated late Central European Classical and Empire-style seat. The château is deeply woven into Czech cultural identity, primarily due to its association with Božena Němcová's beloved novel, The Grandmother. Beyond its literary fame, the estate is surrounded by a spacious natural landscape park that invites peaceful exploration. It remains one of the most frequented and cherished heritage sites in East Bohemia.
