Historia
The Bregenz Festival House was inaugurated in 1980 to provide a dedicated venue for the Bregenz Festival and other cultural events.
In 1990, an architectural competition led to a two-stage expansion plan, with the first phase completed in 1996/1997, adding workshop stages, a lake studio, and administrative facilities.
A major renovation and expansion occurred in 2005/2006, increasing the building's volume by 10,000 cubic meters and redesigning the forecourt as the "Platz der Wiener Symphoniker." The venue has received numerous awards for excellence and sustainability, including recognition by the European Association of Event Centres and the Austrian Environmental Label.
A recent renovation and extension project started in 2021 and completed in 2025 further modernized the complex and added multifunctional workshop buildings.
