The Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, commonly known as Corrientes Cathedral, is a prominent Roman Catholic church located in Corrientes, Argentina. Constructed between 1854 and 1863 under the guidance of master builder Nicolás del Grosso and Fray Nepomuceno Alegre, the cathedral features a basilical floor plan with a central nave flanked by two lateral aisles. Its façade is distinguished by a hexastyle portico with six columns and composite capitals, while the towers are topped with domes covered in French tiles. The interior boasts a main altarpiece alongside four secondary ones, a dome reaching 23 meters in height, and a tower rising to 34 meters. The cathedral houses a remarkable pipe organ built in 1908 by Italian Marcello Borelli, containing 1,183 pipes, representing a transitional instrument between Italian organ-building styles. It also contains the Panteón de los Próceres Correntinos, where notable governors and bishops of Corrientes are interred, as well as a monument by sculptor Luis Perlotti dedicated to Governor Genaro Berón de Astrada. The cathedral was officially opened in 1872 when images from the old Mother Church were transferred. It was elevated to cathedral status in 1910 and became a metropolitan cathedral in 1961. Restorations were undertaken in 2004 to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage. Recognized as a Provincial Historic Monument since 1959, the cathedral remains a vital religious and historical landmark in Corrientes.
