Florida
The Salvador DalĂ Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, is dedicated to the life and works of the surrealist artist Salvador DalĂ. Geschichte
The Salvador DalĂ Museum originated from the collection of Reynolds and Eleanor Morse, who began acquiring DalĂ's works in the early 1940s.
Initially displayed in their Cleveland home, the collection was first exhibited publicly in 1971 in Beachwood, Ohio, with DalĂ himself attending the opening.
Due to growing visitor numbers, the collection was relocated to St.
Petersburg, Florida, in 1982, housed in a renovated marine warehouse.
In 2011, the museum moved to its current, architecturally distinctive waterfront building designed to better protect the collection from hurricanes.
The building was recognized in 2012 by the American Institute of Architects' Florida Chapter as one of Florida's top 100 architectural places of the past century.
