History
Bojnice Zoo opened on April 1, 1955, as the first zoo in Slovakia, originally named the Zoological Garden of the Nitra Region.
Its administration was transferred to the Ministry of Environment in 1998, reflecting its growing national importance.
In 2017, it received its current title as the Slovak National Zoological Garden.
Over the decades, the zoo has expanded its collection and infrastructure, becoming a leader in Slovak animal conservation and education.
