History

1846

The site of LX Factory was originally established in 1846 as the Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, one of Lisbon's major industrial complexes.

Over the years, it housed various industrial companies including Companhia Industrial de Portugal e Colónias and printing presses like Anuário Comercial de Portugal and Gráfica Mirandela.

2005

After industrial decline, the area was purchased in 2005 by Mainsite, a real estate company, which transformed it into a creative and commercial space, reopening in 2008 as LX Factory.

This transformation preserved the industrial architecture while repurposing the facilities for creative businesses and cultural activities, marking a significant urban regeneration milestone in Lisbon's Alcântara district.
