Alor Setar Tower, standing at 165.5 meters, is the third tallest telecommunication tower in Malaysia and the tallest structure in the state of Kedah and the city of Alor Setar. Completed in 1996 and officially opened in 1997, the tower serves multiple roles: it is a vital telecommunication hub, a tourist attraction, and an observatory for sighting the crescent moon to mark important Islamic months such as Ramadhan and Zulhijjah. Architecturally, the tower’s design is inspired by Kedah’s nickname 'Jelapang Padi' (Rice Bowl), with its structure symbolizing tied rice clusters and the strength of the local people. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the observation deck at 88 meters and the open skydeck at 105 meters. The tower also houses restaurants and souvenir shops, enhancing the visitor experience. Its location near other tourist sites like the Galeri Sultan Abdul Halim and Masjid Zahir makes it a central cultural hub in Alor Setar. The tower has contributed to the city's skyline transformation since its completion, inspiring the development of many high-rise buildings in the area.
