Nakai-Nam Theun National Park, located in Khammouan Province, Laos, is a significant protected natural area characterized by its diverse ecosystems and karst formations. The park encompasses dense forests that cover over three-quarters of its area, including evergreen, mixed deciduous, and dipterocarp forests, as well as unique Central Indochina limestone karst forests that harbor many endemic plant species. This rich habitat supports a remarkable variety of wildlife, including seven species of diurnal primates, such as Douc and Francois’s langurs, as well as giant muntjac, various bat species, and several hornbill species. Geschichte

The park's designation reflects increasing recognition of the ecological importance of the Northern Annamites rain forests and limestone karst ecosystems in Southeast Asia.
