History
The National Sejong Arboretum project was selected for preliminary feasibility assessment in March 2011, with subsequent design and planning phases completed by 2012.
Construction began in 2016 after some delays, and the facility was completed on May 29, 2020.
Originally planned to open in 2017, the arboretum's opening was postponed until October 2020 to expand visitor amenities.
It was renamed from the National Central Arboretum to National Sejong Arboretum in January 2017.
The arboretum's first director is Lee Yu-mi.
