What to visit?
History
The area that is now Bình Dương was inhabited by ancient Mon-Khmer and later Cham peoples, who established early settlements along the Saigon River.
Vietnamese settlers from the north began moving into the region, integrating it into Gia Định Province under the Nguyễn Lords.
The Treaty of Saigon ceded control of southern Vietnam, including Bình Dương, to the French, beginning the colonial era.
After World War II, Bình Dương became a center of resistance against French rule during the First Indochina War.
